Sporting background
Rylan Schadegg specialised in soccer before switching at about 16 to cross-country mountain biking and pursuing selection for the US national cross-country mountain biking team. He later took up trail running and obstacle racing, with firefighter workouts—heavy lifting followed by aerobic work—providing a base for hybrid competition. After his first Spartan race in 2021 and a DEKA FIT debut in 2022, he entered his first HYROX in Los Angeles that November. In 2023 he won the OCR World Championships’ men’s 3K race.
HYROX achievements
Schadegg finished second at the 2023 Chicago Elite 15 and third at Amsterdam in 2024, then placed eighth at Hong Kong. At the 2025 World Championships in Chicago, he finished 14th individually and took third in Elite 15 doubles with Ryan Kent.
