Privacy Policy
Effective date: 26 March 2026
1. Who we are
Hyranking is operated by ALZ Software Ltd, a limited company registered in England and Wales (company no. 8587206). Registered office: 128 City Road, London, UK, EC1V 2NX. For the purposes of data protection law, ALZ Software Ltd is the data controller.
2. What data we collect
Race result data
We collect and display race results that are already publicly available on official HYROX timing platforms. This includes athlete names, nationalities, age groups, event details, split times, and rankings. We process this data under the legitimate interest legal basis (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) to provide race analytics to the HYROX community.
Contact form submissions
When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. This data is sent to us by email and is used solely to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: consent (you actively submit the form).
Server logs
Our web server automatically records standard access logs (IP address, browser user agent, pages visited, timestamps). These are used for security monitoring and debugging and are retained for up to 90 days.
Analytics and consent management
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site. GA4 collects data such as pages visited, session duration, approximate geographic location (derived from IP address), device type, and browser. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users and sessions. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. We process this data under our legitimate interest in improving the Site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
To give you control over this processing, we use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) provided by Clickio. When you first visit the Site, the CMP presents a consent banner allowing you to accept or decline specific processing purposes (such as analytics, advertising, and personalisation). Your choices are stored locally on your device and are respected on subsequent visits.
If you decline the Analytics purpose, we send a Google Consent Mode signal to Google Analytics instructing it not to process any of your personal information. This means no analytics cookies will be set and no personally identifiable data will be collected or transmitted to Google for your session.
You can change your consent preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the footer of the Site, or opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3. Cookies and tracking
Hyranking uses cookies set by Google Analytics to measure site usage. These are small text files stored on your device that help us understand traffic patterns. The cookies used include:
- _ga — distinguishes unique users (expires after 2 years).
- _ga_* — maintains session state (expires after 2 years).
These cookies are only set if you have given consent via the Consent Management Platform described above. We do not use cookies for advertising or personalisation. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, by using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or by updating your consent preferences via the CMP.
4. How we use your data
- To operate and improve the Site and its race analytics features.
- To respond to contact form enquiries.
- To monitor and protect the security and integrity of the Site.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Data sharing
We may share data with service providers who help us operate the Site (e.g. hosting, email delivery, analytics), strictly for that purpose and under appropriate agreements. Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under their Data Processing Terms. Consent management is provided by Clickio, which processes consent signals on our behalf. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Data retention
Race result data is retained for as long as the Site operates, as it forms the core of our service. Contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and for reasonable record-keeping thereafter. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. If you are an athlete whose results appear on the Site and you would like your data corrected or removed, please contact us and we will process your request promptly.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your data rights have not been respected.
8. International transfers
The Site is hosted on infrastructure located within the European Economic Area. Google Analytics data may be transferred to and processed by Google in the United States, subject to Google’s data processing agreements and appropriate safeguards (including Standard Contractual Clauses).
9. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we hold data relating to a child, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
